Adam Hickox

Adam Hickox balances precision of gesture with a taste for musical storytelling, from the concert platform to the opera pit. Born in 1996, this British conductor studied music and composition at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, then studied conducting at the Royal Academy of Music with Sian Edwards.

From 2019 to 2022 he was assistant conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, where he worked with Lahav Shani. In 2021 he was one of two Conducting Fellows invited to the Tanglewood Festival. His career has since taken him to European and British orchestras including the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

In opera he has conducted, among others, Tosca at Opera North and L’elisir d’amore at Glyndebourne. Principal conductor of the Glyndebourne Sinfonia since 2023, he will also take the helm of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra in September 2025.
