Chœur HEP

Chœur HEP

In Lausanne, the Chœur HEP makes collective singing an area of training and sharing. Created in 2002 within the Haute école pédagogique of the canton of Vaud, it brings together students and staff members. The institution indicates a membership of around sixty choristers; Julien Laloux is its director.

The ensemble willingly tackles less familiar works without turning away from the major touchstones of the choral repertoire. Its journey ranges from Johann Baptist Vanhal and Louis Spohr to Mozart’s masses, Handel’s Messiah and Beethoven’s C Major Mass. This curiosity is nourished by projects carried out with other choirs and orchestras in the region.

At Lausanne Cathedral, the Chœur HEP notably performed Duruflé’s Requiem with the Ensemble vocal Arpège in 2021, then Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Sinfonietta de Lausanne in 2025. These encounters give its activity a decidedly collective colour: learning, listening and building a work together remain at the heart of its project.
