Christian Immler (Bass)

Christian Immler constructs a trajectory in which Lied, oratorio and opera illuminate one another. A German–Swiss bass-baritone, he first sang as an alto with the Tölzer Knabenchor before studying with Rudolf Piernay at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Winning the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Competition in Paris accompanied the start of his career.

His repertoire ranges from Bach and Handel to works of the 19th and 20th centuries, without neglecting contemporary creation. On the operatic stage he has sung, among other roles, Fasolt in Das Rheingold, Rocco in Fidelio/Leonore and the Hermit in Der Freischütz. In concert he took part in the premiere of Detlev Glanert’s Prague Symphony with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.

A recitalist, Christian Immler has performed at Wigmore Hall, the Frick Collection, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Mozarteum Salzburg. His discography comprises more than sixty recordings, honored among others with a Gramophone Award, Echo and Opus Klassik prizes, as well as a Grammy nomination in 2016.
