Ensemble vocal Arpège

Ensemble vocal Arpège

Founded in Lausanne in 1978, the Ensemble vocal Arpège places choral singing in a living dialogue with the region’s musicians. Its history presents it as being directed by Julien Laloux since 2001 and its website announces a roster of around fifty singers.

Its repertoire spans several centuries: Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Rossini sit alongside less frequently programmed works, notably by Louis Spohr, as well as a cappella pieces. Oratorios, masses, requiems and motets are performed in forces that may combine soloists, organ and instrumental ensembles.

Arpège has regularly worked with the Chœur HEP, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the Sinfonietta de Lausanne and Die Freitagsakademie. Among these projects, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony was given at Lausanne Cathedral in October 2025 with the Chœur HEP and the Sinfonietta, as part of the cathedral’s 750th anniversary. The ensemble thus cultivates a practice in which the great repertoire and discovery naturally respond to one another.
