GIFF 2025: music at the heart of extended reality

At GIFF 2025, Virtual Hall® joins discussions on immersive music and extended reality. Steve Roger takes part in a panel discussion on the dialogue between image and sound.

Rethinking the dialogue between image and sound

On 4 November 2025, at the Théâtre Pitoëff in Geneva, GIFF’s Geneva Digital Market brought professionals together for a conference entitled “Extended Realities – Immersive Music: Rethinking the Dialogue Between Image and Sound”. Virtual Hall® was present at this event, where cinema, audiovisual media and new technologies brought their perspectives together.

Experiencing music

Following an introduction centred on Locus Solus by Ensemble Contrechamps, Steve Roger joined a panel discussion with Aram Balian, Pierre-Alain Giraud and Anne McKinnon. At the heart of the conversation was the role of music and sound design in environments that go beyond the screen.

For Virtual Hall®, these reflections tie in with a concrete ambition: to let people encounter music through the real presence of artists. The immersive recordings developed by Cybel’Art on the initiative of the OSR invite audiences to watch, listen and feel the concert from a different position. Technology thus becomes a means of bringing audiences closer to live performance.
